Display Case at VA a Huge Hit.

Barely 3 weeks into the first models being displayed in the new case at the DAV Transportation drivers lounge, the comments and stares of disbelief and awe, have been flowing in non stop.


"You have to see the looks on their faces." Says Joe Jerozal head of the volunteer drivers. "People passing by in the hall are drawn in by the models hanging in the office. But when we show them the new case, that's when their jaws hit the floor and the stories start."


Joe is the Hospital Service Coordinator and heads the group of volunteers who work in the office and drive the Veterans who have no way of getting to and from the hospital for their appointments. In addition to the passers by and clients waiting for a ride, the drivers also are enjoying the display. "My guys really appreciate what your club has done." Says Joe. "And they can't wait to see what else is going to be brought in for the case."


A second case is now available and awaiting more models from the club members. Due to bad timing the first round to fill the case came up a bit short but hopefully as word spreads, more members will step up and help fill the cases. Depending on how many models we have lined up for display, the current plan is to rotate them out every 3 months. Dates to add and remove models will be posted on the club website. Any members wishing to loan their models are asked to contact me so I can plan ahead to assure everyone gets their models displayed in the case.

Our model club was formed in 1968 and is an IPMS Chapter club. We are located in Southeastern Massachusetts with a membership drawn from four different states. Currently our membership is over 60. Our club meetings are held on the second Saturday of each month. Our club newsletter is the Battlewagon and is issued bimonthly. Membership modeling interest cover such topics as; sci-fi, armor, automotive, aircraft, figures, fantasy and ships. Models span all subjects and eras. The emphasis is primarily on plastic modeling. Our membership is drawn from all walks of life with the age ranging from 16 to 70. Each year on the first Sunday of November, our club holds its annual competition called BAYCON. The competition is held in South Attleboro, Massachusetts. The competition is open with awards given for first to fourth and has over 35 categories representing all subjects. All members and non members are encouraged to attend.
